We teach our children as they grow from toddlers to teens to be honest, don’t steal, and honor their mother and father. You know those few commandments we follow while dismissing the rest. We punish our children if they lie, cheat, or steal. We say honesty is the best policy, it’s a cliché but it’s true. Many of us lie to our children daily, and expect them to be honest to us. We don’t do it intentionally, but we must be mindful to be truthful and honest that they will pick up those characteristics. Our children are watching us, and they know when we lie whether they say it or not.
Have you ever lied to your child? Of course, you have. We all have, we told our children that there is a Santa Clause, Easter bunny, and tooth fairy? We all know that’s a lie, a lie that’s been pass down to us from generation to generation. It time to stop the foolery.
We teach our children that stealing is wrong but, while at the grocery store we pull grapes out the bag and eat them, we also let them taste it and we have no intention of purchasing grapes.
You figure if you don’t get caught it’s ok, but it not, these are bad habits our children pick up from us. We are our children first teachers they learn from us before they ever enter society. We mean well but we must do better.
Some of you teach your children to lie for you. Here’s an example; your phone is ringing you look at your caller ID it’s your mother or father you’re not in the mood to talk with them, because you know they will be complaining about something, or they may want you to take them to the store to get something they already have in the house. You tell your child to say you are not home. You say it’s just a little white lie but, it’s a bold face. A lie is a lie.
Let’s be careful, our children duplicate what they hear and see. Little lies leads to big lies. When our children lie about not receiving their report card, or they found something that they really stole, remember who they are duplicating. They are watching us. We must lead by example, even in the smallest things as eating a grape in the grocery store.
Imagine getting a call from the corner store near your house that your child was trying to steal a bag of chips. Would you punish them? They’ve watched you time and time again eat grapes you didn’t pay for. Small stuff leads to big stuff. Lead by example and practice what you preach.
Repent ask for forgiveness and sin no more. For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23 KJV). If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us ours sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1John 1:9 KJV)
And don’t just ask for forgiveness from the Lord ask your child(ren) to forgive you. They will respect you more for your honesty and look at you as a person and not a perfect being. #SoulFood #intercessor911 #therealalishalarae
PROCRASTINATION “A Time Stealer”
Procrastination, oh how I know her so well. Procrastination is her name. I know her personally because she once lived with me, but I had to evict her. She’s a dream stealer, she’s that house guest that just won’t leave. She’s “BOLD” and brazen, not only will she refuse to leave, but she has the audacity to invites her cousin’s passivity, slothfulness, laziness, delay, not to mention hopelessness and stagnation to visit also.
I was over whelmed, and in disbelief that I let these time stealers over take my being. Procrastination reminds me of the movie invasion of the body snatchers. In short, the movie is about a Dr. who clients had the same complaint that their love ones seem to have been replaced by emotionless impostors. Doesn’t that sound like our enemy procrastination? In the movie the Dr. soon discovered that the patients’ suspicions were true; an alien species of human duplicate, grown from plant like pods, was taking over their town. It was in their town and they entered their body. That’s a description how procrastination is, it takes over your body and before you know it other foreign elements takes residence.
Procrastination and her cousins will drain you and wear you down. In your mind there’s so much you want to do. You have goals, plans and purpose to fulfil, your mind wants to move, but your body feels like there’s a two-ton brick holding you down paralyzing you. There is a remedy, Inhale then exhale, get your sword which is the Word of God Ephesians 6:17, and declare the promises of God over your life. It’s eviction time! Procrastination and her cousins must go, it time to fight the good fight of faith. It’s “WAR” time. Ecclesiastes 3:8 says it’s a time for war and a time for peace. It’s no time to be nice. It’s time I take control. Your goals, plans, and purpose has been on hold for much too long. Time to write the vision and make it plan… (Habakkuk 2:1).
Write your goals and have them in plain sight, review them daily to stay encouraged. Accomplish one thing per day and before you know it that goal will be accomplished and then move on the next goal. Have you heard the saying, how do you eat an elephant? The answer is one bite at a time. It’s chow time baby. It’s time to regain your cutting edge and kick procrastination to the curb. “Procrastination is BOLD if you give her an inch she will take a mile.” No more Procrastination! @iamalishalarae @therealalishalarae www.intercessor911.com
